Electromechanical Actuation System for Controlling Missiles

The design of an electromechanical actuation system for precise missile flight path control is the primary objective of this project. The system combines control electronics, gears, and electric motors to reliably actuate control surfaces comprising rudders and fins. The design is lightweight, small, and optimized for durability along with rapid response. Using 3D-printed components, a scaled model of the actuation system is developed and tested on a model of a simulated missile. Accuracy under changing circumstances is ensured by using sensors and controllers to continuously monitor and modify the actuation. The study demonstrates how electromechanical actuators are lighter and more efficient than conventional hydraulic systems.
